Gentrol IGR Insect Growth Regulator helps to gain control over insects such as bed bugs and roaches. It prevents the younger insects from developing into adults. Gentrol IGR causes cockroaches and bed bugs to lose the ability to reproduce and prevent the younger ones from becoming adults that can reproduce. The effects that Gentrol IGR has on the targeted insects creates a window of opportunity to completely eradicate them before they can reproduce a new generation.

Gentrol IGR uses hydropropene, a synthetic juvenile hormone "look-alike", to disrupt pests' normal growth pattern. Juveniles exposed to Gentrol will be sterile as adults, thus stopping the constant cycle of reproduction in an infestation. Gentrol is a popular choice for use against German roaches and bed bugs. This product is ideal for use in places where insects are hard to kill, such as apartments, hotels, nursing homes, and more.

How Gentrol IGR Concentrate Works

Gentrol IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) Concentrate travels deep into wall cavities, cracks and crevices, reaching the stored product pests, drain and fruit flies, and fleas, that other treatments miss. Hydroprene, the active ingredient, prevents pest larvae from progressing to the pupal stage of development, so the larvae die before they become breeding adults – and future infestations. Cockroaches and bedbugs exposed to Gentrol will become adults incapable of reproducing.

Stored product pests encounter hydroprene the same way they encounter insecticides – traveling on or rubbing against a treated surface. Gentrol IGR Concentrate spreads out from its point of application, creating a much larger treated surface than conventional insecticides. Gentrol Concentrate should always be diluted with water when applying with a sprayer. Because Gentrol is an insect growth regulator and not an adulticide, it should not be used as the sole protection for target pests.

Target Pests

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH GENTROL IGR CONCENTRATE: Cockroaches, drain flies, fruit flies, bed bugs, stored product pests (including Indian meal moths, rice moths, tobacco moths, red flour beetles, confused flour beetles, lesser grain borers, merchant grain beetles, sawtooth grain beetles, warehouse beetles, cigarette beetles, and Dermestid beetles)

Gentrol IGR Concentrate Application Instructions

Use Gentrol as a general surface spray, fogging, spot, or crack and crevice application. Mix Gentrol Concentrate with diluent and apply with spray or hand application equipment, such hand-pressurized or power-operated sprayers capable of delivering general surface spray, fogging (space spray/mist), spot, crack and crevice spray applications, or with a paint brush, roller, or similar device.

How to Use

Step 1: Cover all food items and remove linens and dishes away from areas being treated.

Step 2: Mix 1 ounce of Gentrol IGR with 1 gallon of water and spray. An approved adulticide can also be added, just follow the label instructions on the adulticide label. Gentrol IGR can also be applied with a fogger, just mix with the label approved adulticide.

Step 3: Spray indoor areas where targeted pests have been seen, such as kitchen cabinets or under beds. It is recommended to apply at a rate of 1 gallon for every 1500 square feet. The insect must crawl across the treated areas for maximum effectiveness. When fogging, apply at a rate of 1 ounce of Gentrol IGR per 12, 000 cubic feet.

Step 4: Let the treated area ventilate and dry before re-entering.

Step 5: Re-treat every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity of the infestation.

Spot and Crack and Crevice Applications:

Apply Gentrol IGR Concentrate diluted spray solution using either a pressurized spray system capable of delivering a pinpoint or variable spray pattern or a device capable of coating evenly. Make crack and crevice applications directly to areas such as crevices, baseboards, floors, ceilings, or walls. Make spot treatments to areas such as storage areas, closets, doors, and behind and under furniture and beds. To treat bedbugs, apply to harborage points mentioned above; in addition, under beds, bottom side of box springs (do not treat linens and mattresses), under and behind night stands, to points where carpet and wall meet, cracks in cove base, molding, and other areas where bedbugs harborage.

Gentrol Concentrate may be tank mixed with an adulticide currently registered for use, unless the product label prohibits such use.

Gentrol Concentrate may also be converted to a foam. For best results, use the higher amount of the foaming agent rate range.

Always read the product label completely before use.

Each 1 oz. bottle yields 1 gallon of finished solution. Each 16 oz. bottle yields 16 gallons of finished solution. 1 gallon of finished solution covers 1,500 square feet of surface area.

Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for Gentrol IGR Concentrate

Use 1 ounce of Gentrol IGR Concentrate to 1 gallon of water. Partially fill the mixing container with water, add the Gentrol IGR Concentrate, shake or stir, and fill to final volume. Use diluted solution within 48 hours of mixing. Shake or stir before each use.

  • 1 fl. oz. (30 mL)/gal. of water – surface, spot, or crack and crevice applications
  • 1 fl. oz. (30 mL) per 12,000 cubic feet – fogging applications

INDOORS

Fogging Application: Apply Gentrol Concentrate as a fog or an ultra-low volume (ULV) mist with equipment such as ULV, mechanical misting sprayers, aerosol generators, or thermal foggers to achieve uniform coverage.

* Apply at a rate of 1 ounce Gentrol per 12,000 cubic feet. Use water or oil as diluent, depending on the type of equipment used. Fogging applications are best for larger facilities including warehouses.* Close room or warehouse and shut off all ventilation systems. Apply the product in the air and direct mist toward all areas that may harbor target pests. After treatment, leave the room closed for 30 minutes or longer as recommended by the equipment manufacturer or the labels of other products applied in tank mixing.

* Do not remain in treated area; ventilate before reentry.

Bed Bugs: Apply to harborage points mentioned above; in addition, under beds, bottom side of box springs (do not treat linens and mattresses), under and behind night stands, to points where carpet and wall meet, cracks in cove base, molding, and other areas where bedbugs harborage. Retreat at 14 days for heavy infestations. Gentrol cannot be used as the sole treatment for bed bugs.

Drain Flies, Fruit Flies: Apply Gentrol to areas of fly breeding. For drains, apply product into and around the downspout and catch basin area. Coat these areas thoroughly as fly larvae develop in the scum buildup on the sides of drain pipes. Repeat applications at 2 to 4 week intervals depending upon the severity of infestation.

Pantry/Cabinets, Small Food Storage Areas: Apply as a surface spray, crack and crevice spray, or spot treatment to pantry and cupboard shelves or other areas where food is stored. Prior to spraying, remove all food containers and foodstuffs. Do not replace food containers or foodstuffs until spray has dried. Do not store food in open containers in treated pantries. Destroy any infested food packages to ensure proper control.

OUTDOORS
